The world of technology is flooded with a range of gadgets each year. We feel that it is important for the consumer to know about the devices that not only gives them a convenient experience, but also value for money. This is a tough decision and that’s why we at NDTV bring to you the Gadget Guru Awards 2012 that brings together a jury of professionals with versatile backgrounds to give their expert opinions on the best devices available in the market . The unique perspectives they bring to the Awards ensures a fair and well-rounded judgment.

Kishore Bhargava Kishore Bhargava is a technology consultant based out of New Delhi since 1985. His primary area of focus has been the conceptualization, installation and maintenance of the technology infrastructure of large, multi-locational organizations. He has assisted several global corporations, as well as non-governmental organizations in defining their technology roadmap and installing world-class solutions for their operations in India and elsewhere in the world. All of this using free and opensource software and technologies. He is an ‘expert’ contributor to several respected technology magazines, and is often sought out by the media for his views on technology issues. Kishore is one of the early adopters of FOSS and is amongst the first users in the country. Soon after starting to use these technologies, he started spreading the word by interactions with the media, via writings, public seminars and TV appearances. He was one of the core members of the PC-Quest team that was the first to distribute a linux distribution with a magazine, essentially seeding the Indian community. Kishore is one of the founder members of the India Linux Users Group -Delhi Chapter and an active member many other user groups across the country. A manager on the team that brings you both freed.in and foss.in.

Prasanto Kumar Roy Prasanto Kumar Roy is president and chief editor of CyberMedia’s ICT publishing group, which includes ten IT and telecom titles such as Dataquest, PCQuest and CIOL.com. A technology journalist and analyst for over two decades, Roy, 45, majored in physics at Delhi’s St Stephen’s College, after schooling at St Xavier’s, Delhi. He joined CyberMedia in 1990, and has driven pioneering projects such as Asia’s first cover-mounted CDs, and the first publication-run product test lab and processes. He is deeply interested in mobile technology, and on greentech, driving CyberMedia’s five-year green evangelization program beginning 2008. He is also building India’s first home to be registered with TERI’s SVAGRIHA green-building program. He travels lectures widely on subjects related to technology, media, and greentech, and blogs about technology and food.

Nishant Padhiar Nishant Padhiar has been at the forefront of expert product reviews since 1999. After successfully establishing AV MAX, India’s first magazine dedicated to high-end home-theatre and audio systems, he moved on to lead T3, an international gadget magazine that created a new niche in the Indian market for tech-hungry gadget-o-philes. His background in Sound Engineering led him to pursue several globally-renowned degrees including the coveted ‘THX-Certified Home Theatre Technician-Level II’, which only one other individual in India has managed to achieve! Harnessing his passion for technology and design prompted him to answer the call of Stuff – the word’s biggest selling gadget magazine and to head its Indian edition. Raising the benchmark for magazine production in India by leaps and bounds, Stuff (India) has managed to scale the top spot of gadget/lifestyle magazines within a year of its launch under his captaincy. He also edits What Hi-Fi, a global magazine brand and India’s No.1 magazine on home-entertainment and audio. With his collective experience of over 10 years being a magazine editor, web publisher, TV co-anchor and brand-consultant, he is one of the leading authorities in the country for the definitive verdict on the latest technology.

Gul Panag Ex Miss India Gul Panag won the crown in 1999. Adamant about finishing her BA (Mathematics) degree, she took time off in her reign year to do the same. The journey since then has been eventful and rewarding. She did a few TV shows, before graduating to film with the superbly received Dhoop, her award winning portrayal of Zeenat in Nagesh Kukunoor’s Dor and her highly acclaimed work in Manorama Six Feet Under , Straight, Summer 2007 and the recent cult chick flick Turning 30. Gul has emerged as a thinking actor; her choice of work setting her apart from her contemporaries. Apart from being an avid reader, an automobile enthusiast and a traveler Gul is also a tech freak. She says, “I am mad for technology! In my day to day world I deal with technology through work and even my house has the latest gadgets right from Playstations, XBox, Nintendo Wii to Logitech Harmony – The Universal Remote…… Since technology is readily available, I make sure that I use it so that I can live life more efficiently.”

Ashish Bhatia Ashish Bhatia is an independent technology writer and columnist. Currently, he contributes to several publications, including The Mint – Wall Street Journal, India Today Gadgets & Gizmos, The Telegraph, Air India Magazine, Men’s Health, Spice Route inflight magazine, and Touchdown – Airport magazine. The knowledge building started with Peerless Audio – India as a R&D Engineer for 5 yrs,moving into commercial filed of professional-audio with R&S Electronics for 2 yrs. KJ Singh KJ Singh, a National and Filmfare Award Winner for his Sound Design/Mix work for the Feature Film OMKARA, has been at the leading edge of audio technology ever since his return from the Trebas Institute of Recording Arts, Toronto, in 1985. A front-runner in MIDI and Digital Technology, he has composed advertisement commercials and produced well known artists like Indian Ocean and Rabbi Shergill and then gone on to engineer and mix songs by some of the best names in the Indian Film and Music Industry like Vishal Bhardwaj ( Maachis to Maqbool), AR Rahman (Rang De Basanti to 127 Hours), Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Ismail Durbar, Vishal-Shekhar, Hariharan, KK etc.A self confessed “gadget man”, he frequently guest lectures at the University of Mumbai, Music Dept and Digital Academy on MIDI and Audio and is sought by both peers and students for his views on emerging audio technologies.
